Boss Feature: False Bowser
False Bowsers are lesser enemies transformed into Bowser's image by Bowser's dark magic or Super Leaves. These copies have all of Bowser's powers but are not perfect - they are given away by color differentiations or Tanooki tails. They primarily attack by jumping and breathing fire, but may also swing their tails. They are nearly invulnerable, but many fireballs, a hop on a switch or an axe can take them down. When defeated, they reveal their true forms. In their initial appearance in Super Mario Bros, they lack Tanooki Tails. They are the bosses of all castles except the final castle. The real enemies within are a Goomba, a Koopa Troopa, a Buzzy Beetle, a Spiny, a Lakitu, a Blooper, and a Hammer Bro. They served the same purpose in Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels. Their next appearance was Super Mario 3D Land, in which they gained Tanooki Tails. They now do their jumping in a 3D stage. There are only 2 of them in this game - in the first 2 castles. They are really a Goomba and a Magikoopa.
