Cosmic Clones are shadowy versions of Mario that pursue Mario in Super Mario Galaxy 2. They spawn from invisible points. When Mario touches one of these points, a black cloud appears and Cosmic Clones jump out. They follow Mario's movements exactly, but Mario cannot touch them or he'll lose a life. So he must be careful not to cross his path. Cosmic Clones will disappear (and turn into Star Bits) when Mario breaks a Launch Star out of an Item Crystal, completes a set of Switch Tiles, etc.
