Lakitus are turtle-esque enemies that ride floating clouds high out of Mario's reach. From this high altitude, they toss Spiny Eggs that hatch into Spinies upon hitting the ground. A stomp will finish them (if you can reach them). Lakitus have been around since Super Mario Bros, but they have been included in the most recent games as well. In these recent games, after stomping a Lakitu, Mario can ride its cloud around until it disappears.
In most of Mario's sports titles, Lakitu is featured as the referee, an NPC.
